Bert Joe Willock passed away peacefully on January 7, 2014 after a brief illness with cancer at only 49 years old.
Bert Joe Willock was born to Minnie Savetilik and the late Paul Willock September 30, 1964. He was the third youngest of Minnie's nine children. He and his younger brother Bert moved down south when they were twelve and eleven with their foster parents: Phillip and Marty Odem, until they graduated from a Mississippi High School. Bert played football and eventually returned to Kotzebue, Alaska. He had a variety of jobs over the years.
Bert has a daughter, Shelby Grace Willock, born in 1994. He was married in Kentucky to Karen Ogle Willock. Shelby was the light of his life, despite the great distance between them.
Bert is preceded in death by his brother
Tom (Thomas) Fred Willock, Tom's daugther and his niece Christina Johnson, brothers Sonny Allen Jr. and Robert Allen, Karen Ogle Willock, and sister Elsie May Willock. Tom (Thomas) Fred Willock, whom some considered to be as close of a twin to Bert as there could be, died in 2013 after suffering heart failure. Tom and Bert were close, having lived in Missisippi, Oklahoma, and Alaska together. They enjoyed football, playing tennis, family, and traveling. Tom Willock was awaiting a heart transplant at only 49 years old.
Bert is survived by his mom and step-dad, Minnie and Dan Savetilik Jr.; sister, Rhoda Allen; brothers: Jimmy Allen, Roy Willock, Ingram Willock, daugther Shelby Willock, a sister, foster parents, aunts, uncles, and many friends.
